The photometric sorter, also known as the optical sorter, is a device that uses the difference in the light reflection characteristics of materials to carry out sorting. The device integrates modern detection, sensing and artificial intelligence technologies, and can quickly identify the physical characteristics of materials, thereby separating materials from waste.

Working principle of optical sorter:

The operation of optical sorter relies on the interaction between light and matter. When ultraviolet light, visible light, infrared light and other light come into contact with objects and cause absorption, reflection and transmission, the equipment can detect the materials, and then use compressed air, water flow impact or mechanical arm grabbing to achieve accurate sorting of target materials and non-target materials.

In actual operation, the raw materials are transported to the optical sorter via a conveyor belt. The spectral sensor installed above the conveyor belt quickly scans the passing materials, accurately captures and analyzes their size, color and material information. Once the characteristic parameters of the material match the pre-set sorting criteria, the relevant data is immediately transmitted to the sorting unit. The sorting unit then issues an instruction to trigger the solenoid valve to release high-pressure airflow, and blows the specified material away from the original drop track through dense high-pressure nozzles, and is collected by the subsequent conveyor belt; materials that do not meet the sorting conditions continue to slide along the original track to the conveyor belt below to complete the entire sorting process.
